Diamonds are truly a girl’s best friend… and the ultimate wake-up call is a super-tight ponytail! For me, the last two days of MasterCard Luxury Week Hong Kong 2008 were low on rest… but high on spirits! Friday at Donna Karan, a collection that was the quintessence of urban style, models wore their hair in a demure bob – an engineering feat pulled off by Toni & Guy constructed entirely of pin-tucked rolls.

High tea is a veritable fine art in Hong Kong. And what better moment to see it on display than at a Dorian Ho show, Hong Kong’s very own designing wunderkind who’s dramatic silhouettes and lavish fabrics set the tone for an indulgent afternoon hi tea, watching his Beijing Theatre inspired Autumn/Winter 2008 collection unfold while sipping oolong ring side.

Oh yes, the fierceness certainly came to the Four Seasons ballroom last night. The full force of Hong Kong’s fashion elite packed the elbow to elbow custom-made black seats in the show arena, as Jean Paul Gaultier’s Autumn/Winter 2008/09 collection played its story out on the runway, officially opening MasterCard Luxury Week Hong Kong 2008.

The opening night of MasterCard Luxury Week Hong Kong 2008 was, in a word, epic.

Firstly, getting dressed was a mini-event in itself. After all, you couldn’t really expect any less from a phenomenal Ashley Isham gown!
Arriving at the Four Seasons, thronged by photographers and blinded by flashbulbs, I managed to make my way backstage where, behind the velvet rope, I laid my eyes on one of the most glamorous settings I have ever seen. Every step was carpeted, chandeliers cascaded, champagne flowed – and images of my face were literally wall-to-wall, courtesy of my MasterCard campaign!

The biggest thing on my mind right now – besides my growing fall wish-list – is what to wear to one of the biggest fashion events in Asia. Counting down the days to MasterCard Luxury Week Hong Kong 2008, I am in a delicious dilemma between an Ashley Isham gown and a piece by the fabulous Renée Leung, who coincidentally created two bespoke dresses for me for the MasterCard Priceless campaign.
